LeanApp, one of 12 initiatives, to showcase at NHS Providers annual conference and exhibition in November 2015
6th November 2015
The North East Transformation System, hosted by Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, will showcase the LeanApp at the NHS Providers annual conference and exhibition on 10 and 11 November 2015.
Quality improvement (QI) approaches such as Lean are being promoted to the NHS to reduce waste and improve flow. However, a lot of time can be lost in recreating electronic versions of many of the paper based tools used to capture learning from observing in the workplace.
The NETS Team, hosted by Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, established the LeanApp project to reduce and remove duplication by providing quality improvement apps that combine the portability of paper based tools with the convenience of modern technology.
To date two high quality healthcare improvement apps have been developed, LeanMed and LeanAppQi and they are available from www.leanapp.info.
• LeanMed is the only app of its kind and was designed by the NETS Team to support the Lean improvement approach taught to North East healthcare leaders by Virginia Mason Medical Centre (VMMC). VMMC is recognised as a Lean healthcare exemplar and has worked on knowledge transfer with the North East NHS since 2006.
• LeanAppQi has been designed to support professionals to manage improvement projects using the model for improvement and plan, do, study, act (PDSA) cycle. LeanAppQi is the first to make this powerful approach available in a mobile tablet format.
